Guitar Hero World Tour

December 29, 2008 kruder Leave a comment

It seems like everyone is hooked onto the game, Guitar Hero. Our attempts in getting the game with the complete set of instruments were unsuccessful. Apparently it is sold out in the market and will only be available in mid Jan. I have always see it in Australia JB Hi-Fi and also EB Games but never thought much about it. However all things changed once you lay your hands on the game and then desire to play it grows onto you!

We tried @ Sim Lim Square but no luck at all… In the end all i got was a 4gb usb stick that was going at a really cheap price. Happy with my purchase. I saw that it was selling @ $24 bucks in our neighbourhood but I got it at half the price!

Hmm, I told baby that I will be avoiding all JB Hi-Fi and EB Games stores when we are back so that I will not be tempted into getting the wii and the game sex! Can this be possible? I don’t know… I will try as hard as I can. :)

Gunther’s French Modern Cuisine

Heard about Gunther’s French Restaurant and read a news article that it had on one of the top restaurants along side Les Amis, Iggy’s and Garibaldi while I was in Australia. So I decided to make a trip to the restaurant to find out for myself.

Had the Christmas lunch special. It was a 4 course meal which I thought was reasonably priced:

  1. Carpaccio of Wagyu beef, crispy potato, Parmesan, confit of shallot
  2. Pan fried foie gras, compote of dates, orange
  3. Whole roasted turkey, truffles, Christmas stuffing
  4. Christmas log cake
  5. Tea & Petit fours

It was a very nice looking restaurants with the dark solid grey walls and soft warm lightings. Not a very big place but enough space to get around. Noise level was a bit high perhaps of the large crowds that were coming in.

The food was pretty good especially the Carpaccio of Wagyu beef and roasted turkey. I would say they were my favourites. foie gras serving was generous however, it would be better if it was pan fried slightly longer.

However, what i found most shocking was the price of drinks. Never did i expect it to be priced so exorbitantly. Unless the drink that we had was so premium but then again…I felt that the wait staff should have informed us prior to serving. I supposed in my excitment of being in the restaurant,  it didn’t come across my mind that it would cost this much. A glass cost half the price of the 4 course meal. I was taken aback when I saw the bill. In Australia, wine didn’t cost that much. I forgot that I was in SG and hence, paid the price for it.

The Only Constant is Change

2008 is coming to an end. In a week’s time, it will be 2009.

I am finally back in SG after being away for the entire year. How fast time has passed. It felt slightly surreal to be back. It seemed like I have never really been away before yet at the same time, you realised there were subtle changes all around new. New constructions, new roads, new faces, new buildings… every little things that make you feel like you are like a piece of jigsaw puzzle trying to fit in.

I met up with my old friends, ex-colleagues. I found out that many of us, our lives have changed. Most are doing well..except for a few. Quite shocking tho considering that the people whom you thought would made it, didn’t while the people whom didn’t do very well back then, changed so much and now succeeding in what they do. Very good for them.

It is really interesting to see the contrasts and also the kind of lives we are having now. It is in the hands of the individuals that determined the course and path of your life and how you work yourself towards it. Also, it is the influences, the people around, the environment that plays a part in shaping your thoughts, ideals, and personality that forms the foundation of who you are today. However, this is always changing and it will continue to be.

It is said that we all have a predestined path planned out for us the moment we are born. But I strongly believe that this maybe partially true, it is still up to us to strive and change the course where we feel would be better for us. This is what being here is about. To experience the ups and downs, the rights and wrongs and constantly navigating the course of your path so that it will lead you to your ultimate goal of realising your dream.
